Free to play: Here's a game. You can play it, basically, and have fun, more or less. If you want any of the advanced features, skills, unlocks, skins, game modes, or anything resembling the "full" game, you must pay us money. A lot of money,. You want a good sword? 5 dollars, for a set amount of digital currency. You want a better federation starship? I want 5 dollars.
XBLG: You need to pay to play your games online. Why? Because we offer a hacker-free, safe, secure method of storing your cc data and purchasing the games you want to play, with a flawless matchmaking system that precludes you from dealing with as much third-party developer-caused bullshit as possible. Your games won't drop, your downloads will work swimmingly, you will never have to deal with utter bullshit and bad programming so long as it is under OUR control (does not apply to games like RE6, RE Revelations, etc. with god awful design that wastes your time) Otherwise, well, you can go online, but not do anything.
PS+: Hey guy. We know you play online for free, and, well, it sucks - the matchmaking servers are atrocious, games will random disconnect you for no discernible reason online, we have a terrible and unacceptable trophy system that doesn't' update in real-time but here's the deal: You pay us more per year than our competitor, and we'll let you rent digital copies of a few games that you have no ability to vote for, without any extra cost. Don't worry about matchmaking servers or the guarantee of identity theft, we will do nothing to fix those.
