@nyadc @reduc_ab_ Well, I hear your perspective, and I think I understand. The game, as with the entire Souls series, is simply not for you. You've said Bloodborne is a niche title, and I agree to a point. It's not the difficulty in my mind that is the ultimate factor in these games appealing, or not, to more people. It is the thematic material, as well as the presentation. These are metaphysical games, and I say that not to sound high and mighty intellectually, but simply as a person who is very interested in philosophical applications insomuch as they relate to spiritual/mental means of elevation. Miyazaki, and I can only assume his team, as well, have done their reading on such matters. I'm not talking about organized religion, but the transcendence of the need for such a thing. The Souls series is rampant with this very subject, but it is largely represented symbolically through the use of some very specific imagery and its juxtaposition, which necessarily will go right over the head of someone that has no interest in Occult matters, or the metaphysical in general. I like the challenge, true, but the vision of existence, not just what it is to be human, but to exist period, is, for me, where the interest lies. It may not seem that all of this has anything to do with Dark Souls, or Bloodborne, but I tell you it does. It is there, worked into the very fabric of these games. I can only imagine the experience of playing said games might seem hollow, or downright boring to someone who does not resonate thematically, even spiritually with Mr. Miyazaki's work. And I would like to point out that he did not invent these concepts on display in his games, but is simply expressing them through the filter of his personal eye, not only his conscious perception, but his unconscious yearnings, if you will. Furthermore, I believe many people play the games he makes not solely for a challenge, but also, and perhaps prevalently, because they share such yearnings. Anyway, that is a bit of my perspective.
One more thing: the reason I say hold on to your copy, though you may not play it much now, is because in time the material may begin to interest you. Could be one year, or twenty down the line. Or never. Who knows. You will know, when it comes. If it does. But this is getting beyond video game talk...good day.
